John D. Rockefeller acquired his wealth through his oil business; he founded the Standard Oil Company. At one point in his life, he was responsible for around 90% of the oil refined in the US. Rockefeller treated his workers unfairly; he worked them long hours for low wages. He used his money by reinvesting it in other companies and industries, and he used it to pay for his wealthy lifestyle. He donated his money to medical research, a Baptist Church, and two colleges (University of Chicago and Rockefeller University). In addition, he donated some money to charity. Rockefeller was both a Rober Baron and a Captain of Industry.
