Classification of Chromatography

The Classification of Chromatography includes techniques based on the principle of separation, such as adsorption chromatography, partition chromatography, and ion-exchange chromatography, each utilizing different mechanisms to separate analytes. Techniques are also distinguished based on the physical state of the mobile phase, including gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, and supercritical fluid chromatography, which are differentiated by the state of matter of the mobile phase used to carry analytes through the stationary phase. Additionally, classifications are based on the mechanism of separation, such as size exclusion chromatography, affinity chromatography, and electrophoresis, which separate analytes based on their size, binding affinity, or electrical charge, respectively.
