Nationality: British novelist/playwright, known as the British Maupassant
Born: January 25, 1874, in Paris. His father was a lawyer and worked at the British Embassy in France. His mother died when he was 8 years old, and his father died when he was 10 years old. He was later raised by his uncle in England. When lonely and melancholy, I take books as my companion and develop the habit of reading. Later, he studied at the Royal Public School, where he was discriminated against because of his stuttering, which left a shadow. Studied at the University of Heidelberg in Germany and St. Thomas' Medical College in the UK, and worked as a midwife after graduation.

Main idea
The protagonist Strickland is a respected securities broker with a wife and children. He ran away from home in order to pursue art. He resolutely got rid of the constraints of traditional society, even to the point of not recognizing his relatives and living a life of poverty. Living and creating in Tahiti, after paying a huge price, he finally painted a masterpiece and realized his ideal, but his life ended tragically.
